The Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) has taken an important decision to replace the subject of Alternative English with Assamese for the two-year higher secondary course.
This move has been taken as a part of the AHSEC’s continuous efforts to popularize the mother tongue.
In a meeting, held at the Council office on 8th February 2020 which was attended by a number of educationists, litterateurs and intellectuals, also decided to introduce ten other regional languages including Bangla, Bodo, Nepali, Hmar, Manipuri, Garo, Khasi, Mizo, Urdu besides Hindi in place of Alternative English.
