To his address to the nation on 14th April 2020, Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared that the lockdown in view of the spread of COVID-19 pandemic in India will have to be extended till May 3, 2020.
Amid this lockdown, all educational institutes including schools, colleges and coaching centres will remain closed, for the safety of students as well as the general public.
In the notice released by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Guideline number 6 states, "All education, training, coaching institutions etc. shall remain closed.”
However, government order states "Online teaching/ distance learning to be encouraged."
It emphasizes on the use of online teaching or distance learning via various available resources such as:
a) All educational, training, coaching institutions etc. shall remain closed.
b) However, these establishments are expected to maintain the academic schedule through online teaching.
c) Maximum use of Doordarshan (DD) and other educational channels may be made for teaching purposes.
